My Latest Purchase: NFL footballs, NBA basketballs and Leather Boots

It’s been a couple years since I bought a pair of boots. Come to think of it, I haven’t had a truly proper pair of boots, ever. Recently I went to Chicago with some close friends. It was a great time in the city, and a great time to find My Latest Purchase.

There are few stores that spend serious time curating their selection. Most stores carry overpriced poor quality items. The remedy: Haberdash. This store has one of the most well curated selections I’ve ever seen. They carry great items that are crafted with quality and remind you of the days before everything said “Made in China. I knew I’d find a great pair of boots the second I walked into the store.

The know: Wolverine got its’ start almost 125 years ago. In an attempt to honor their tradition, Wolverine has released several styles of boots based on the original designs from over 100 years ago. The 1000 mile is one of these designs. The boots are made of Chromexcel leather from the Horween Leather company. Horween is located in Chicago and is one of the oldest leather producers in the US. Not only do they make great boots, but they are also the exclusive supplier of leather for NFL footballs and NBA basketballs. They have a time honored tradition of never cutting corners and providing the best leather in the world. Back to the boots: not only is the leather top quality, but the construction is too. The boots are handmade in Rockford, MI, and the sole is welted to the boot upper. A welted sole means the sole is actually stitched to the upper instead of glued. It doesn’t sound like much, but welt construction makes for a more durable longer lasting sole. Lastly, the break-in time is zero. It’s winter time and a quality boot is a must. Why not join Haberdash, leave those “Made in China” days behind, and buy American?
